Session Info
I no longer have a studio, but I can bring the studio to you.
Headshot sessions can be scheduled at your home, at your office, or outdoors.
I will need roughly 20 minutes to set up my lighting when I arrive. After that, the session lasts roughly 45 minutes (for a standard session), and I am happy to shoot as many poses / backdrops / outfits as time allows. During the shoot, we will stop occasionally to review the images we are getting. If we are indoors, I will shoot directly into my laptop. This allows us to get a good look at the images in real time and ensures the best results.
The two most common backgrounds I use are grey and white. I can bring these backgrounds with me, or we can use your office/home environment as the background. Depending on the weather, we can also go outdoors for some images with buildings and/or greenery as the background.
The session fee includes one delivered image per subject, with standard retouching. Additional images may be purchased for $50 each.
The session fee does not include delivery of “all the images”.
One image of your choice is included in the session fee. If you would like more than one image, additional images may be purchased for $50 each or 10 images for $450.
You will receive your finished image(s) 5 business days after you have made your image selection.
You can either make the image selection at the session or you can view your images in an online gallery and make the selection afterwards. Your finished image(s) will be delivered as JPEGs, in high-resolution & web-resolution versions. I will also include one that is already cropped square to work nicely on Linked-In.
Makeup / Hair Styling
Professional makeup application and/ or hair styling can be scheduled with your session to create a polished look. Please let me know if you are interested, and I will coordinate with one of my makeup artists / hair stylists. Many clients schedule hair styling or a salon blow-out immediately before their headshot session.
Clothing / grooming:
Here are some clothing tips you might find useful. Please bear in mind these are just suggestions:
WOMEN
- Feel free to have a couple clothing options ready, if you wish.
- Solid mid-toned colors are best. Jewel tones, for-instance, are universally flattering.
- Avoid black and white if possible. Substitute black with richer neutrals- navy, chocolate, charcoal, maroon, forest green…
- Avoid bold prints & patterns, if possible.
- Choose something with a flattering neckline. Modest v-neck & scoop neck shirts work well. Turtlenecks and sleeveless shirts should be avoided.
- If you wear a jacket, pair it with a collarless shirt for a sleek & modern look.
- All clothing should fit well and not be oversized.
- Layers are generally flattering, as long as the pieces in question fit well. Jackets and cardigans are your friends.
- Make sure clothing is freshly pressed and wrinkle-free. It is often a good idea to have clothing ready on hangers so that is is perfect when you put it on.
- Simple jewelry is best.
- Be sure your hair looks just the way you like it. A salon appointment immediately before your session is a great option.
MEN
- Feel free to have a couple clothing options ready, if you wish.
- For business headshots, I suggest a shirt or two, a couple ties and a jacket.
- Solid colors are best, avoiding black and white if possible. A grey, green or blue jacket will photograph better than a black one, and a shirt that is blue or grey will photograph better than a white one. Of course, these are just suggestions.
- For more casual headshots, if this fits better with your business culture, you should choose options that will layer well together- polo shirts, button-down shirts, sweaters, maybe a sport coat or leather jacket. Preferably in medium – dark tones.
- All clothing should fit well and not be oversized.
- Make sure clothing is freshly pressed and wrinkle-free.
- It is often a good idea to keep your clothing on hangers so that is is perfect when you put it on.
- It is always a good idea to get a haircut 1 – 3 days before your headshot session, and to shave or groom facial hair that morning.
